Introductory TEFL

Course Requirements | Course Content | Schedule and Fees

In July, we offer an orientation, teacher training course: the one-week Introductory TEFL Course.

This course is for you if…

  • You are thinking about a career in TEFL (teaching English as a foreign language)
  • You are not yet ready for a CELTA course
  • You are not sure if the CELTA is for you

While this course does not provide you with a recognised qualification, it is taught by a fully-qualified and experienced CELTA tutor and could secure you paid or voluntary employment teaching English in developing countries. If you intend to complete a CELTA course at some point afterwards, this course will provide you with a much better idea of what to expect and covers some of the same content but not to the same depth.

Course Requirements

As participants are not formally assessed and they practise teaching on each other, the one-week Introductory TEFL course provides a gentle, less stressful introduction to English language teaching.

The only course requirements are as follows:

  • Your own use of English is at advanced (C1) level
  • You are prepared to participate and have a go at teaching!
